We have some new events coming up for 2018. There will be a number of mammal recording sessions across the county, starting in February at Locko Park. These are aimed at boosting records of mammals in some under recorded areas. It will basically mean getting out and walking an area, noting any evidence of mammals, then meeting up in a convenient pub afterwards to compare notes.
Full details will follow, but there'll be recording sessions at
Locko Park - 10th Feb; Bradley Nook Farm, nr. Ashbourne - 14th
Cromford Canal (Codnor area) - 16th May; Cromford Canal (Cromford) - 13th June;
Poolsbrook Country Park - 21st July; Rosliston/Coton in the Elms - 18th August;
Osmaston area - 27th October; Shipley Country Park - 10th November
These are all on Saturdays, between 10am and 1pm, apart from the two Cromford canal events which are Wednesday evenings at 7pm.
The group has a Twitter account - see the left hand column on this page for the latest tweets.
Alternatively, get involved by sending us your mammal records. See our records page. Records can be from anywhere in Derbyshire and needn't be recent.
Several parts of the county are under-recorded, particularly in the south. Some species are also under-recorded (House mouse for example!) so any data is useful.
Records of dead mammals (e.g. road kills) also count.
Thank you if you have sent records in to us and please keep them coming in!
