STATUS: Widespread and frequent
Widespread and frequent; feeds in woodland and wooded gardens and frequently roosts in buildings. May be declining as old buildings are modernised and roost sites are lost. Frequently hibernate in caves, mines and other underground sites. Its very quiet echolocation calls make it difficult to pick up on a bat detector.
