Daubenton's Bat Myotis daubentonii
STATUS: Widespread and fairly common along waterways.

Widespread and fairly common along rivers and canals and waterways. Its population is probably stable. Roosts in trees, buildings and under bridges; often hibernates in caves. The characteristic flight, “hovercrafting” low over the water, makes it one of the easier bat species to identify. It is monitored annually at some locations by members of Sorby Mammal Group and Derbyshire Bat Group as part of the National Bat Monitoring Scheme.
